Why I do this work…

Because I am a mom… I lost my mom as a child, but I had my dad. As a mother now, I hate the thought of my children having to navigate the world without me. What if something were to happen to both me and my husband? Who would care for them, could they stay in their house, keep our family dogs, go to the same schools? I want to make sure that my children would be taken care of and that the people that stepped in to care for them would be people I trust, people that know me, know them, love them.

Because I am a friend… My friend is an only child and grew up with her single mother. Her mom worked hard and amassed sizable savings. Recently, her mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease. My friend gave me her mom’s legal documents to review, and although she obviously had the intent to plan for her future, they were not done correctly, leaving her hard-earned assets unprotected. Long term care is over $14,000 a month and her mom would be heartbroken if she knew that is where all the money for which she sacrificed is going. Through strategic planning I can help people protect their assets should they ever face the costs of needing long term care.

Because I care… I have had several losses that led me to be a part of different grief resources. I have seen people at their most vulnerable. To watch people trying to help themselves, their spouse, their child, or their parent navigate through grief, while also dealing with the unexpected financial and legal burdens a loss can bring is heartbreaking. I can say “I am sorry for your loss” and “let me know if you need anything” just like everyone else, but there is also something else I can offer. I can offer solutions. I can carry some of that weight for these people. I can help them deal with probate or possibly set up their own estate plan so they can have peace in knowing they will never leave their loved ones in a similar situation.
